Martial arts mad father and daughter claim medals at European championship

Father and daughter taekwondo pairing competed at the UITF European Championships and returned with a handful of medals.

Simon, Chief instructor at Samworth Church Academy based Inspire Taekwondo, and Katie, 12, represented Heart of England against competitors from several other countries.

Simon, a 2nd Degree Blackbelt, claimed two silver medals in patterns and sparring. Katie achieved a bronze medal in sparring. “It’s an amazing achievement (by Katie) for someone so young,” said Simon. “We are currently planning out next international trip which is the World Championships in Argentina in August 2017.” No less than 15 from the school flew to Poland to compete and came back with a total of 26 medals - 13 golds, eight silvers and five bronze medals.
